Important notice regarding uniform and the hot weather

Dear Parents/Students

Due to the high temperatures forecast from Tuesday 30th June to Friday 3rd July it will not be compulsory for students to wear their blazers to school or around the school site as per the current school rules. All other uniform rules will still be strictly applied. Further information about the following week will be issued on Friday 3rd July once the weather forecast is known.

Please find below the uniform expectations for the College. These will be strictly applied so please ensure that all uniform conforms to these.

Girls Uniform

  • Navy blue blazer with College badge (logo embroidered blazer available from Skoolkit; or blazer badges available from College).
  • Pale blue shirt with collar, worn with a College tie (top button done up, tie pulled up to top button, shirt tucked in).
  • Community Tie – to be pulled right up to top shirt button, and worn at the correct length – 8 visible stripes (ties available from Skoolkit and College).
  • Navy jumper (optional).
  • Navy blue drop waist knife pleat skirt, code SSK303 (no more than 10cm above the knee) – this is available from Skoolkit.
  • Plain black trousers. (These must be straight leg or boot cut in style, they must be loose fitting all the way down the leg. No fashion or casual trousers with logos, rivets or detail are acceptable).
  • Plain black socks or opaque black tights with no pattern (no low denier eg 10 or 15 denier tights).
  • Black shoes leather style shoes (no boots, sports style shoes, canvas shoes, trainers, high heeled shoes and no logos or stripes).

Boys Uniform

  • Navy blue blazer with College badge (logo embroidered blazer available from Skoolkit; or blazer badges available from College).
  • Pale blue shirt with collar, worn with a College tie (top button done up, tie knotted at top button, shirt tucked in).
  • Community Tie – to be pulled right up to top shirt button, and worn at the correct length – 8 visible stripes (ties available from Skoolkit and College).

  • Plain black socks.
  • Black leather style shoes (no boots, sports style shoes, canvas shoes, trainers, high heeled shoes and no logos or stripes).

Coats

  • Outer coats, if worn, should be smart and plain in colour.

Please note: Hooded tops, sweatshirts or any other non – uniform item should not be worn and will be confiscated.

Hair

  • Students are expected to be natural in appearance. Hair should be of natural colour. Extreme hairstyles are not permitted. Plain hairbands and hairclips are acceptable.

Jewellery

  • Jewellery is not allowed apart from one pair of plain ear studs. No other piercings are permitted, e.g. nose stud, tongue, eyebrow, lip piercing, etc. retainers, spikes, expanders are NOT permitted.
  • A watch is permitted, as are College badges.

Make-up

  • A discreet amount of make-up may be worn.

Practical lessons

  • For some practical subjects and College courses, protective clothing and footwear is required.

  • We accept that, for reasons of journey safety, students may bring mobile phones to the College. However, students are reminded that mobile phones/MP3/Ipods and headphones should never be used, or seen by staff, during the College day and that these will be confiscated if seen. Items will be returned to students at the end of the College day, but in the case of persistent offenders, students will be required to hand them in to their Tutor in the morning and collect them from Reception at the end of the College day.
